Sarah brings her experience as practitioner, teacher, and community-minded business owner to this small group training. Our well-rounded, experiential curriculum includes benchmarks that honor your independent (and collective) journey as a yogi, yoga teacher, and yoga influencer in your community so no matter what your goals are when you start, you’ll find a personalized result that deepens your love for yoga.
What you’ll take away from Foundation: A 200 Hour Teacher Training:
Hours of hands on practice teaching with individual and collective feedback
Essential knowledge of anatomy, terminology, and physiology of yoga
The foundation of teaching yoga including the basics of pranayama (breathing), asana (postures), and dharana (meditation)
Smart sequencing and the basics of designing a practice that balances the body
How to assess individual needs through observing students while they practice
Expert use of supportive and concise cueing and inclusive language
How to modify your group and individual teaching for all bodies
Training on how to lead trauma informed yoga practices
Use of voice, mantra, and impact of words
How to develop and teach workshops and ways to identify your teaching mission
The art of teaching individualized yoga
Exploration of the subtle bodies including chakras, koshas, bandhas and mudras
Introduction to the history of yoga through yoga philosophy including yamas, niyamas, the sutras, and 8 limbs of yoga
Establishment of healthy boundaries and ethics when sharing and teaching yoga
Discussions about the yoga of social justice, inclusion, racism and cultural appropriation
Access to unlimited free group classes at Breathing Room Yoga for the duration of the training
Ways to deepen your personal practice and commit to a consistent sadhana
Exploration of your individual intentions, passion and impact through practice and community sharing
The business of yoga including: branding yourself, marketing your teachings, establishing fees, and designing your business plan
Identification of ways to collaborate, offer yoga as service, and discover community offerings
A lifelong network of friends, cheerleaders, and a vibrant community of supportive yoga teachers
The training site is accessible. All students are welcome to apply.
